“Awesome views, wonderful hosts, inspirational model of sustainable living”
Reviewed August 24, 2011
I loved my stay at Bloo Lagoon and will be coming back to stay longer next time. It was a unique blend of modern comforts and design grounded in sustainable principles. The views were unbelievably beautiful, the villa was beautifully designed and comfortable, and I simply felt good being there. It was exactly what I came for.

I found myself there in the afternoon, having embarked from Ubud in search of a place to relax, write, and be inspired. After a very welcoming chat with the founder, Tony, and his lovely wife, Marita, I tucked into my room, plugged in my laptop, and had a nice hot shower.

Over the course of the 24 hours that I was there, I had one of the best salads I've ever tasted (the healthy salad), I met some very friendly folks staying there, had wonderful chats with the founders and their team, and really felt like I could live at the place.

Tony and Marita are a remarkable couple who have been involved with sustainable architecture and design for a long time. Their ability to blend principles of sustainable design and create a functional, working model of an eco village that also functions as a resort really impressed me. I found it to be a blend of a modern resort complete with all the services one would expect from a five star place, but not with the same sterility or monotony that comes from a five star chain. Each room and villa was unique. There was a man made lake with fish and lots of greenery and intelligent water and energy design throughout. They were supporting local communities and working with local villagers from the region, where many other resorts choose to bring in labor from other parts of Bali and Indonesia.
I would highly recommend this place, whether you're coming to stay for the night or for the rest of your life :~) The founders are good people, and you can see and feel that throughout your stay. As with any other eco resorts, you may not find it to be crystal clean, and yes, you may make some friends with local inhabitants, including bugs. You can expect all the modern comforts, and rest well knowing that you are contributing to making Padang Bai, and the world, a better place.

People like Tony and Marita have devoted themselves to living a great life while making the world a better place, and that I truly admire. For a young guy like me hoping to do the same, they are role models and I respect them very much.

Bloo Lagoon, in my view, is slowly but surely becoming one of the best eco resort villages in South East Asia, and definitely on the list of top places to visit in Indonesia. Appreciate the vision, choose your villa and make friends with the team, ask for anything you may wish for, and get ready for an amazing stay in an unbelievably beautiful location.

Stayed August 2011, traveled solo

This was our fourth stay in three years at Bloo Lagoon and it just keeps getting better. We usually stay on the Candi Dasa side, which I recommend if you like to wake to the sun rising over the ocean. It also affords a breathtaking view of Mt Agung and the surrounding valleys that in the morning are layered in mist. The open-air wooden houses have a simple, elegant beauty. Most hotels provide just a room; these are full houses with a kitchen, living room, and separate bedrooms, a terrific value for a beachside resort and a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area.
The staff is delightful and accommodating. The poolside warung serves fresh organic food at a reasonable price and has a nice chill vibe with lots of opportunity to meet new people. When we were there on July 4th there was live music by the pool. The pool is my favorite on the island with a wicked fast slide that is great fun. A great place for families, couples or even the lone traveler looking for a nice welcoming atmosphere.

Good afternoon
I just wanted to send you a quick note to commend you on your outstanding accommodation. We absolutely loved it. We have travelled extensively throughout Bali and Lombok and I have never stayed anywhere where I felt that the facilities captured the spirit of the islands like Bloo Lagoon. In an age where everywhere you stay seems to be climatically controlled with air conditioners, fixed doors and windows it was an absolutely delight to sleep in a room with the doors open and with the sound of nature (and ferries departing Padang Bai harbour) lulling me to sleep.

My only regret is that we only stayed one night. I would not hesitate to visit again and would highly recommend to anyone that is open to exploring the nature of Bali.

We stayed 3 days @ The Bloo Lagoon at the end of may 2009, this is an highly recommandable place, nice spot, nice views, nice staff, nice food... well 5 stars !!! and I'll spread the word to anyone I know that will travel to Bali island.
I hope the renewal are doing well.

Hi Jack,
I just wanted to let you know that we have had a wonderful holiday in Bali. We felt that we got a real 'taste' of daily life at Lodtundah. We enjoyed walks amongst the roosters, dogs and lively children of the village and the children flew kites and trekked through the rice paddies like locals. They thoroughly enjoyed their proximity to nature and the work of village life and soaked up Bali culture and Bahasa like magic sponges.

Wayan was a very courteous and safe driver and took us to many fun places: a farm at Bedugul where we picked strawberries, the tree tops at Botanical Gardens (twice!), Padang Bai, kite flying, Sanur beach, Monkey Forest.......we were never stuck for something to do! I will recommend him to any of our friends traveling to Bali.

We also enjoyed the T-house compound which was very relaxing and beautifully situated. The kids loved the pool which we visited on a daily basis and grew very fond of Kamantha House. I love how nature is incorporated into the building structures at T-house and the sense of connection this creates between both.

We managed to spend two nights at the Bloo Lagoon at Padang Bai before we left - the scenery there was breathtakingly beautiful. I heard through the grapevine that you also have a house there - rice paddies and turquoise seas - the best of both worlds. I can appreciate how much you must enjoy both properties when you return to Bali.

Despite our two week stay we feel that we have plenty more to discover in Bali and will be back.

Warmest wishes
Mairead

Dear Bloo Lagoon:
We had a most wonderful time. You have made a really special place, the villa and the complex had every necessary convenience in such open, airy, innovatively elegant surroundings. All the staff was smiling, friendly and helpful without being obtrusive.
Warm regards,
Kamal and Devi

Just a quick note to say what a sweet time we had at Bloo Lagoon. Still, when I close my eyes, I see the ocean. Such a dreamy place. Thank you for sharing it. And also, for the kindness of you and Ari, and all the other lovely bloo lagooners.
Wishing you well,
Natalie

I would like to say thank you to you and the whole team at Bloo Lagoon who made our stay in June enjoyable and memorable.
Peter, Fajri and I enjoyed Padang Bai tremendously. We had a relaxing time recharging our batteries - ready to face reality again tomorrow when we go back to work! No doubt we will visit Bloo Lagoon again in the future. Until now.
Warm regards from Cambridge,
Sri Aitken
